The Sisyphean Struggle of Infosec
cybercrunch was launched in March 2026 by me, Mathew Reece (Orangutank). I'm a relatively late career changer, swapping from Design Management work in the construction industry over to infosec in my mid-late thirties. There's a lot to learn, and less time than most to do it in.
I've historically been terrible at documenting my work. I learn something, solve the problem, then immediately move on to the next dumpster fire. I often forget the steps I took to solve the last problem, or even that I solved it at all, leading to wasted effort and unnecessary repeated struggles.
The goal of the site is to help me to break that cycle, encouraging me to actually document my continuous learning in infosec. It's mostly intended for me, not external readers, but if there's something you can use or learn from my mistakes then please by all means do.
What to expect
This isn't a place for expert tutorials. Much of the content you see here may seem obvious or second nature to you. This isn't an attempt to 'brand' my learning or otherwise build an empire. I'm just a guy trying to learn some stuff.
